And while you are at it - remember to save water and avoid keeping the tap on, while you use the soap.
Self Care in the time of Self Quarantine | Covid-19 Awareness
With an overload of information related to #Covid19 being shared everywhere, we often ignore the importance of small joys. In times like these, there is a need to focus on the importance of Self Care and filling our life with some positivity. So, while we #SelfQuarantine, how about we try and do the following:
Learn something new
Take up an online course, experiment with a new dish in the kitchen, learn that dance form by watching online tutorials, play with paints or just learn a new language. With digital courses and tutorials available across platforms, learning doesn't have to be confined to four walls and a blackboard alone.
Stocked up on new books in the past few months, but never got the chance to read? Or, is the guitar in your room pushed to a faraway corner, where dust often greets it more than you do? This can be the perfect time to live your passion and discover the small joys attached to it. We all have a hobby (or more) we love, which perhaps, had to be pushed in the back-burner due to various reasons, including the everyday work routine.
The #DancebeeAnniversary Special | A Letter From Us, To You
Our website - Diary of a Dancebee has come a long way, and we are all set to enter a brand new year. From being a simple, personal blog to becoming one of India's most loved entertainment & lifestyle website and ultimately, winning multiple awards for all the hard work. Today, as I look back at all those memories of spending sleepless nights over designing the blog, learning new skills, editing posts and working on fresh concepts (which I do, even today. learning never stops); I feel proud. Proud to give my ideas a chance. Proud to have a strong voice, and of course - Proud to be a girl who dared to dream.

Gratitude to all the brands, agencies, companies and people we have collaborated / worked with. Nothing worth having comes easy, but all of you made it possible with your support. Reserving the best for last! YOU. Yes, all of you are the lifeline of this baby! Over the years, right from the inceptions of our blog to website and witnessing our social media pages grow - all of you have helped make ‘Diary of a Dancebee’ what it is today. Nothing would have been possible without your love and blessings, dear readers and followers! It means a lot to know that there are people who appreciate your work and your posts can help change a life somewhere or bring a smile on someone's face. Thank you for all the letters, tweets and posts, even on days when we faced hurdles. Your love has made us stronger!
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do
Of course, keeping the Covid-19 global pandemic concerns in mind, we decided to drop all celebration plans this year. We are committed to supporting every measure taken by the authorities to protect this nation and it's citizens. Hence, our giveaways and other surprises shall be announced, once the situation improves. Won't deny the fact that I do feel disappointed, but the nation and humanity comes over and above everything. We need to fight against this 'Covid-19 war' together, and be responsible! However, we will be rolling out some interesting content and interactive sessions, all week long! Stay tuned and follow us, as we extend our gratitude and celebrate together.

Haircare Routine for Healthy Hair | Home Remedies with Dancebee

Ingredients: Coconut Oil (I use Parachute Advansed), Almond Oil (I prefer Dabur Almond Oil or Hamdard's Rogan Badam Shirin), Olive Oil and Castor Oil.
Tip: If you plan to store this in a bottle (for use upto 1-2 months), do not heat the oil. For those who are using this only once, the oil can be warmed in a small bowl (for approximately 30-45 seconds). Remember - results may differ from individual to individual, depending on their overall health, hair care and other factors. Here's to happy, healthy hair!

Travel | Countries where Indians can travel - All you need to know about Air Bubbles, Travel Restrictions and Relaxations
Most of us have been patiently waiting to get back to traveling (albeit, with strict precautions). However, looking at the current scenario, we can confirm that restrictions would be relaxed in an organised, phase-wise manner. The civil aviation ministry has entered into air bubbles with 14 countries, where Indian citizens can fly. Currently, talks are also on with several other countries, in order to facilitate two-way international travel. However, currently there are some countries where Indians are not allowed to fly, which means that no air bubble can be set up with these countries as of now.
So, what exactly does one mean by 'Air Bubbles'?: Air bubbles are temporary arrangements between two countries, which are aimed at re-starting commercial passenger service, at a time when regular international flights across the world are suspended. As we all know, International flights were suspended in March, as almost all countries had imposed a strict lockdown, in order to combat the spread of Covid-19. Repatriation flights resumed in May, but these flights are different from air bubble flights as repatriation flights can’t carry passengers both ways.
So, which countries can Indians not travel to (as of now) and why?: As several countries are opening international travel gradually, governments are in the process of identifying high-risk and safe countries.
- The European Union didn’t identify India as a safe country. However, India does have air bubble with Germany and France.
- South Africa: South Africa will resume international travels from October 1. However, it is likely that the government will not allow Indians to travel to the country.
- Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has barred all flights to and from India in its effort to keep a check on the Covid-19 situation in their own country.
- Hong Kong: Earlier this month, Hong Kong placed a bar on Air India flights, blaming Indian travellers for an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong. However, we hear the bar will be lifted soon. Also, just FYI - there are other airlines operating to Hong Kong.
So, which destinations can Indians fly to?
The 14 countries where Indian citizens can fly to include: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Canada, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Maldives, Nigeria, Qatar, the UAE, the UK, and the US.
Current relaxations for domestic air travel: The government is gradually lifting certain restrictions such as relaxing the cap on number of flights from 45 per cent of pre-Covid number to 60 per cent. In addition, on-board meal services have been allowed on domestic sectors. From among the latest developments, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has allowed airlines to decide the baggage rules.
We highly urge all travellers to ensure they step out only in case of an emergency or urgent travel requirement. Ensure you take all necessary precautions and follow all strict hygiene measures.
Five Staycations in Mumbai for the Perfect Getaway | The New Normal Holiday
With the ongoing pandemic and restrictions, several travel enthusiasts have had to cancel or postpone their trips this year. Some chose to push it to 2021, while others canceled it altogether. WFH has become the norm, with most of us spending hours behind the screen. With travel restrictions and guidelines imposed, it won't be possible to visit your favourite destination so soon. However, with Unlock 4 and 5 guidelines in place and certain restrictions being lifted up (with due precautionary measures, of course), a staycation in your city can be your best bet for a quick escape, while spending quality time with your loved ones. With the long weekend approaching, we list down five staycations in Mumbai that we absolutely loved:
Sofitel (Bandra Kurla Complex)
Looking for the perfect staycation, right in the heart of Mumbai? Sofitel (BKC) might just be the right option for you. The rooms are luxurious, and have been done up tastefully, with the fine detailing of French art de vivre. The staycation package comes with a luxury room booking, along with a lavish breakfast from Pondicherry Cafe, check-in and check-out benefits (early/late), and complimentary wi-fi access among others.

JW Marriott (Juhu)
A beach front hotel, packed with the most impressive features? Yes please! JW Marriott Juhu offers a stunning view of the Arabian Sea, and faces the iconic Juhu beach. Upscale comfort with premium decor and delicious food (we are huge fans of Lotus Cafe) - this is a perfect choice for your staycation with loved ones, if you are looking to enjoy a comfortable, luxurious and peaceful stay. Book their 'Extraordinary Staycations' package, which comes with accommodation in a well appointed room, breakfast, complimentary room upgrade (subject to availability), 1 main meal for 2 guests, apart from additional exclusive benefits. Prefer a staycation in the heart of South Mumbai's favourite destination - Lower Parel? Look no further! The St. Regis - one of Mumbai's tallest buildings, comes with accommodation that offers an unmatched view of the maximum city. We love the elegant decor, which is sophisticated, traditional, and does not compromise on comfort. A key USP at this property is the F&B. We absolutely love the spread and wide variety. Book a staycation with their 'Extraordinary Staycations' package, which comes with complimentary breakfast, 1 major meal for 2 adults, additional exclusive offers, and free stay + dine for kids (below age 12). You can also avail a complimentary room upgrade (subject to availability).
Price: Rs 9500 onwards | Book here
Grand Hyatt (Santacruz)
Spread across 12 acres of greenery and situated close to the Western Express Highway; Grand Hyatt is a beautiful and serene property, which is perfect for a weekend getaway within the city. Their staycation packages are perfect for solo, couples and even families. We recommend their 'Unwind and Dine' staycation package, which comes with various room options (with the choice of king, queen or twin beds). The package includes a scrumptious breakfast, F&B credit, check-in/check-out (early, late) benefits among others.
Price: Rs 6999 onwards | Book here
A few things to remember, before you book your staycation - most properties have stringent rules in place, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Certain public areas like Swimming Pool, Gyms, Buffets may not be available. Hence, it is advisable to check with the property before getting your reservations done. Also, please remember - responsibility begins with you. So, please take all necessary precautions, including wearing a mask, carrying your safety kit (sanitiser, spray) and plan your trip, only if you have duly tested yourself and / or are fit to travel.

25 Years of DDLJ | Top Moments from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
On this special occasion, we list some of our favourite moments from the film.
1. Bade bade deshon mein...
Because after all, aise badi badi filmein roz nahin banti, Senorita!
2. Shahrukh Khan's iconic Smile
The reason why most girls born in the 90s had their first crush on King Khan.
3. The Towel and Rain dance
That moment when everyone in the cinema hall goes 'Aww', including me, you and every other DDLJ fan out there!
5. The Hotel Prank scene
We all love Raj, and we can't stop laughing when he breaks the"Kal raat" waali news to Simran.
But seconds into the scene and again, we all go - Awww!
6. And Simran falls down...
And you be like - Say whaa? Isn't Raj just plain crazy?
7. The Sarson ke khet scene + Tujhe dekha toh
The song that made every individual hunt for that perfect patch of Sarson ke khet, only for them to run the Bollywood way and sing "Aankhen meri, sapne tere."
8. Ho Gaya Hain Tujhko Toh Pyaar
9. The Train scene
How else will Shahrukh Khan continue to save his lady love and pull her inside the running train, for the next 20 years? On a serious note, this is 'the' moment when Simran is finally allowed to live her life. The moment where the legendary Late Amrish Puri says, "Jaa Simran jaa, jee le apni zindagi."

5 Books to Look Out for in 2021 (January to June)
Here's wishing all our lovely readers and followers from across the globe a very happy and blessed new year. I hope and pray that 2021 brings in positivity, new opportunities, and happiness in your life. For my first post in a brand new year, I wanted to share a list of books that I am looking forward to reading in 2021, or should I rather say - the most anticipated titles that I am waiting to get my hands on in the year ahead. All of us can do with a good read, or two (maybe lots more for bibliophiles like some of us).
So, get your wish-list ready and take notes:
Unfinished - A memoir
Author: Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Launch Date: February 9, 2021
Of course, this one's for all the fans of our very own desi girl! While some bibliophiles might think otherwise, I - for one, strongly believe that a lot of entertainment aficionados are looking forward to this memoir, which promises to highlight some key aspects from the international icon's life. From her dual-continent twenty-year-long career as an actor and producer to her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, from losing her beloved father to cancer to marrying Nick Jonas; Chopra-Jonas' wants to inspire her fans and the younger generations with her personal story and experiences, with an aim to gather their courage, embrace their ambition and to work hard towards their dream.
Klara and the Sun
Author: Kazuo Ishiguro
Launch Date: March 2, 2021
Acclaimed author Kazuo Ishiguro's first novel since the winning the Nobel Prize in 2017 - Klara and the Sun promises to introduce the readers to a technologically advanced world. A future packed with dystopian elements, and an insight into our rapidly changing world, through the eyes of an interesting narrator. The story focuses on Klara, an 'Artificial Friend' with outstanding observational qualities. Fans of Ishiguro are excited to experience his 'sci-fi' return, and have been patiently waiting for the launch.
First Person Singular Stories
Author: Haruki Murakami
Launch Date: April 6, 2021
A much anticipated collection of eight first-person short stories by best selling Japanese author Haruki Murakami. The stories span across various themes and experiences - from memories of youth, ardent love of baseball, to dreamlike scenarios and invented jazz albums; all with the signature Murakami twist. The collection aims to challenge the boundaries between our minds and the exterior world. However, it promises to pose an integral question. - Is it a memoir or fiction? Well, apparently - this is something the reader gets to decide.
Whereabouts
Author: Jhumpa Lahiri
Launch Date: April 27, 2021
Close to a decade post the release of acclaimed author Jhumpa Lahiri’s last novel The Lowland - we’ve got a brand new novel. Whereabouts focuses on a woman, who navigates the complexities of work, love and life. Shuffling between the need to belong and the refusal to form lasting ties, until one day, a day at the sea changes her perspective forever. It makes the reader ponder as to what ‘Transformation’ truly means. Brimming with the impulse to cross barriers; this would be Lahiri’s first novel to be written in Italian, and translated into English. We are quite excited already!
Great Circle
Author: Maggie Shipstead
Launch Date: May 4, 2021
Set during the Prohibition-era Montana, and spanning across the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, New Zealand, wartime London, and modern-day Los Angeles - author Maggie Shipstead’s Great Circle moves across decades, with daredevil female protagonists (living in different times) at the centre. The women, both ambitious and destined to determine their own futures, are determined to chart their own course in life, at any cost. This would be Shipstead’s third novel, which took about two years to write, as it took a lot of research and traveling for the author to put together the novel.
So, which book are you excited to read? Any titles outside of this list that are you looking forward to reading this year?

Birthday Special | Sidharth Malhotra's Bollywood Journey in Quotes
Birthday Special | Musings by Sushant Singh Rajput
It's tough. It's tough when you have to muster up the courage and write for someone, whose incredible work on the big screen would make a million hearts skip a beat. For someone who was so pure at heart, and incredibly passionate about his work. For someone, who would always warmly greet you with the brightest smile and a twinkle in the eye. You know why this process is so difficult? Because it feels so arduous, linking words like 'was' or 'no more' with an individual - who feels like he is very much around. Sushant Singh Rajput may have crossed the bridge and landed among the stars, to explore the universe (just the way he liked); but his untimely and unfortunate demise continues to pierce our hearts even today. I fondly remember texting or tweeting the actor on his birthday, and receiving the sweetest responses (something I terribly missed since the last 1-2 years, and shall now miss forever). His kindness was always a class apart, and so was his remarkable intelligence, whereby the man could discuss Shakespeare to Saturn in a single breath. I thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with the man, whom I fondly called 'Bright Star' (and rightly so). Little did I know that the star would find his way in the universe so soon.
Honestly, I couldn't get myself to write any feature or tribute in 2020. Perhaps, I wasn't ready. Or, maybe I could not weave words together to explain my state of mind. However, January 21 marks SSR's 35th birthday. On this special day, I decided to put together some fond memories and quotes by the maverick, from our conversations and interview archives. His words were powerful. Strong enough to always leave an impact. And on his birthday, if there is anything I would like to celebrate, it would be his 'Words' or as he would say - 'Musings'. And no, I wouldn't call it a 'Birth Anniversary' or 'Tribute', because the brightest stars shine - they never die.
