Deepika Padukone at Tamasha Promotions | Style Files

I have a confession to make; I have this massive girl crush on Deepika Padukone. She is definitely among the best Bollywood actresses of our time. Obviously, I am looking forward to her upcoming Tamasha, that releases this Friday. Directed by Imitiaz Ali and paired opposite her once-upon-time-lover Ranbir Kapoor, there is absolutely no room for mistakes in this movie. Padukone has been on the road, promoting her movie all over, with some lovely outfits. Let’s look at some of our favourites!

Layered Up
I am not sure what I love more; the printed long waist coat by Myoho or the white shirt dress by Sohaya.  Maybe the Michael Kors on her feet? Probably the simple ponytail with the winged eyeliner? I don’t even know, this is such a perfect put together ensemble. Full points to you, Deepika.

All Images From: Shaleena Nathani - Instagram

Keep it Casual
For her Bigg Boss appearance, Deepika did some polka dots and lots of blue in Bodice by Ruchika Sachdeva. Add to that, layered necklaces, white Yves Saint Laurent sneakers and a gorgeous yet simple hair do.

More Layers
Clearly, Deepika is loving the layers. The T by Alexander Wang dress was covered up with a chambray jacket and a brown belt. I particularly like her non-ponytailed hair here and the metallic sandals from Dune London. Tara sure knows how to shine.

Whites and Nudes
This is a breathtaking combination of whites and nudes from Deepika’s Delhi promotions. She chose a knitted sweater dress and paired it with a pleated skirt, both by &Other Stories. My favorite are the ZARA shoes and the Dolce and Gabbana earrings. Minimalist at its best!

OMG!
Anamica Khanna has outdone herself once again with this beautiful printed situation on Deepika. Not to mention Shaleena Nathani for styling Deepika. This one is just gorgeous with its prints and colors.

Editor's Pick

Glam Diva
Deepika looked every inch a glam diva in this stunning number, that she chose for the film promotions on the sets of I Can Do It. The Shehla Khan brocade pant suit looked perfect on her svelte figure, while the metallic pumps adds an extra touch of bling. A pair of stunning Vinita Michael earrings finished her look. Soft curls and dark berry lips added some more drama.

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil | Review

Oils have always been an integral part of an Indian woman's skin and hair care routine. Our grannies have suggested oil based skincare recipes, so did our mumma and now, our generation has been blessed with facial oils, that aim at revitalising and hydrating your skin from within. Facial oils are fast becoming a skincare must have, especially during winter, when your skin faces major dryness and sensitivity issues. Certain oils available in the market, with special properties, are targeted at specific age groups. One of the latest entrants in the Indian skincare market is by The Body Shop, and is called Oils of Life. Part of a skincare range by the same name, the Oils of Life facial oil is specially targeted for the 30+ age group. If you have been following us on Snapchat, you know that we did a day long series of posts when we got our hands on the product. For this review, we got a female volunteer close to our team (Age: 35) and got her to try the product for a week. Read on to know the results.

What? - The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil

What does it promise?Infused with three precious seed oils and a blend of seven essential oils, we've created the Oils of Life™ Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil. The lightweight and quickly absorbing texture leaves a non-sticky finish, melting onto the skin, leaving it silky and soft. Instantly, skin appears smoother, more radiant, revived, revitalised and nourished. After 4 weeks, the signs of aging appear reduced, wrinkles appear minimised, and skin feels more elastic and firm.

Price: Rs 3095  Quantity: 30ml
Main Ingredients: Black cumin oil from Egypt, Rosehip Oil from Chile and Camellia Oil from China

How to use? This dermatologically tested oil can be applied every morning and evening before applying a cream. Apply 1 to 2 drops maximum (2-3 for very dry skin) onto the face and neck and gently massage into the skin.

Packaging: The oil comes in a glass bottle, which of course, is not very travel friendly. But, since the bottle does not weigh too much, it's not too heavy to carry around. Plus, the cap (with dropper) fits well, so no chances of the product spilling out either. The product comes with a glass dropper, which is convenient. You can dispense the right amount of oil, without wasting even a small drop.

Texture: According to our volunteer, this is one of the most light weight facial oils that she has ever used (the volunteer has tried and regularly used two popular facial oils in the past). The texture of the oil is extremely smooth and feels as light as water. The product is dermatologically tested and suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin.

Fragrance: Nothing like the typical facial oils, that smell like umm.. Oil! The wonderful blend of multiple oils in this product (more than 10 - 15, to be precise) result in a unique, subtle fragrance, with light notes of rosemary, olive, lavender and more.

Experience: A good facial oil takes at least 4 weeks to show signs of recovery. Since our volunteer tried the product for a week, we mostly kept a tab on the texture, hydration and other elements. The product was used daily, twice, after thoroughly cleansing the face. After massaging a few drops of the oil, the volunteer used her daily moisturiser. The first thing we noticed was that the oil blends into the skin like a dream, leaving no signs of the oil at all. It does not feel heavy or sticky, and within seconds, leaves your skin like a blank canvas for the moisturiser, BB creams and make up to follow. The oil worked well on hydrating our volunteer's skin from within, even while she gave a presentation in a conference room with 18c temperature (and FYI, she has combination skin). Her skin did not feel stretchy or dull even after hours inside an air-conditioned office. Post office hours, her skin continued to feel fresh and hydrated while traveling. She continued with her night skincare routine, but added The Body Shop's oils of life facial oil as the first step post cleansing (followed by her moisturiser and under eye cream). The next day, our volunteer informed that her skin felt hydrated and supple. Her cheeks usually feel a little dry during this time of the year, but that wasn't the case now. Her skin felt tight, firm and extremely soft. She is looking forward to seeing how the product works overtime, but is definitely happy with the results so far.

Pros: Attractive packaging
Light weight, non-sticky formula
Hydrating
Keeps your skin extremely soft and supple
Perfect for all skin types
No harmful ingredients

Cons: Glass bottle makes it less travel friendly

Verdict: Our volunteer gives The Body Shop India's Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil two thumbs up and has already added it to her daily skincare routine. With almost everything going for it, and no harmful ingredients, this product is definitely a must have this season!

Orange is the new Black | BCBG Max Azria

Can you believe it's December already? I mean, how on earth does time fly so quickly? In my mind, I am still stuck somewhere towards the end of 2014, a time when I got back to working on Diary of a Dancebee from scratch and shifted my entire focus on revamping this baby. But as they say, we have to keep moving ahead with time and welcome every surprise that life throws at us. Speaking of December, the big fat party and festive is already here (In India, the festive season lasts all year long, to be honest) and I am quite sure most of you have already started imagining their Christmas or NYE night outfits (or perhaps, some of you have a particular outfit in mind already). Once again, most of you reading this post will stick to the good ol' little black dress or a 'shiny disco ball' outfit. But, what if I told you that Orange is the new Black this season? Yes, you read that right (and no, I am not talking about the show).

While we all associate the colour Orange with bright sunny days (read: Spring), this happy colour is fast becoming a favourite and got a makeover to suit the Fall / Winter trends for this year. Pantone had already predicted the rise and rise of Orange as a dominant F/W colour this year and we saw several designers at the New York Fashion Week adding a pop of orange in their creations. While the warmer hues like rust, terracotta, amber, spice among others are most preferred, a mix of warm and cool hues can also be tried. Shades like Melon orange, Creamsicle orange or even Tangerine are good to experiment with this season. Also, I personally believe that various shades under the Orange family are versatile, so there is something for everyone.
Things to keep in mind before opting for an Orange outfit: Avoid pairing Orange with Black, Do not clash a shade of orange on orange (unless you want to look like an Orange) and avoid too much bling, heavy accessories on a darker hue of orange.

I couldn't take my eyes off this simple yet stylish BCBG Cape Kimono Dress, which is perfect for the festive season. The colour is not too bright nor warm, and is glamorous enough for any occasion. Personally, I like to keep it simple. But since it's the festive season, a dash of bling never hurt anyone and my dose of bling in this outfit comes from the hot pink pair of diamond studded block heels from Steve Madden. They are chunky, perfect for any glam event and super comfortable. Keep it minimal with less accessories, with perhaps just a bracelet or watch. Again, make up cannot be too bold. Go for earthy or nude tones. Here, I decided to keep it simple with just bold lips and soft, naturally wavy hair.

Kaya CC+ Cover Correct Complexion Perfector Cream | Review

$

One of Team Dancebee's favourite brands - Kaya entered the CC cream market with their new CC+ cover correct complexion perfector cream recently. With CC creams becoming a must have in almost every make up essentials kit, Kaya's CC cream aims at giving the consumer a natural glow and helps in blurring imperfections. We gave this new launch a try and after testing it for almost a month, here's what we think of this gorgeous black beauty, that promises to be packed with multiple skin benefits.

What? - Kaya CC+ Cover Correct Complexion Perfector Cream

What does it promise? - Kaya's all in one complexion perfecto cream gives you flawless glowing skin instantly by hiding imperfections. It not helps in improving the skin appearance, but also gives prolonged benefits with regular use. Some of the prominent benefits include - blurring imperfections, natural looking instant glow, brightens skin, blurs appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone, smoothens and hydrates the skin, protects from harmful UVA / UVB rays and free radicals.

Price: Rs 990  Quantity: 30ml  Shelf life: 2 years from the date of MFD

How to use? - Spread the cream to throughly cleansed face and neck, like your regular moisturiser. Massage gently onto skin in an upward and outward motion.

Texture and Fragrance: The texture is very creamy, yet not too heavy or greasy. Post application, it absorbs into the skin quickly and leaves a smooth finish. For those with extremely dry skin, you can blend this cc cream with your moisturiser and get excellent results. The fragrance is subtle, like most Kaya products.

Packaging: The packaging of this product is hands down one of the best we have seen so far. The CC cream comes in a box package, where the black plastic pump bottle is housed. The pump bottle looks classy and chic. It is very light and easy to carry. The pump and plastic cap ensures that the product doesn't spill, making the bottle travel friendly and very convenient to carry around in a make up bag. Kaya has definitely nailed it in the packaging department!

Experience: We started using this product at a time when winter kept playing hide and seek. The climate was a mix of humid afternoons and breezy nights. Post cleansing, we used the CC+ complexion perfector cream with a basic moisturiser and the result was well hydrated, smooth skin. While the cream does not give you 100% coverage (so, you will have to use a concealer), it does add a natural glow that stays on for a good 4 -5 hours. We did not follow up with any compact powder, and still, the cream ensured that our face does not look patchy, stretchy or greasy. For those with combiation / oily skin, we suggest you use the CC+ cream directly, as it provides enough hydration. Kaya's CC+ cream comes in just one standard shade, and fortunately, the shade did work well for us. Though, we are not too sure how it will look on warmer skin tones. Inclusion of SPF 25 with UVA / UVB benefits were definitely an added advantage. The packaging is definitely one of this product's biggest plus points, as it is convenient to carry and looks fancy. Just one pump is enough for one time application, so the product will last you for a good 4 - 5 months, depending on your usage. While most CC+ creams are priced in the range of Rs 300 - 600, the Kaya CC+ complexion perfector cream costs Rs 990, which might be a little on the expensive side. But if you are someone who is hunting for the right mix of hydration, natural glow, smooth skin and a very fancy bottle, look no further!

Pros: Hydrates and keeps your skin smooth
Adds a natural glow, which stays for 4 -5 hours
Evens out the skin tone very well
Comes with SPF 25, UVA / UVB benefits
Excellent Packaging
Travel friendly

Cons: Minimal coverage
A bit on the expensive side

Verdict: So far, we have always had a great experience using Kaya products and this time, it's no different! For someone who does not use foundation and would like to add a natural glow on their skin, this is certainly your best bet. Plus, it is perfect for the ongoing winter season, as it hydrates your skin well and does not leave it feeling patchy or stretchy. If you don't mind shelling out Rs 990, then the Kaya CC+ cover correct complexion perfector cream is a good investment.

From My Kitchen to Yours - Maria Goretti | Book Review

Abraham Maslow, a humanist psychologist, came up with some pretty awesome things back in the day; some of which I use as daily jargon. His hierarchy of needs (imagine a Food Pyramid), listed exactly what the title says, things you NEED. Like in a food pyramid, the bottom level contains your most important food groups like bread, cereal and rice, Maslow’s pyramid includes physiological needs. I will skip to my favourite physiological need: the need to be fed! Maria Goretti, popular ex-MTV VJ, popular food YouTuber and wife of our favourite Circuit aka Arshad Warsi, has made sure that our most important need is taken for through her new book, “From My Kitchen to Yours”.

I have to admit, I love cooking. So when our editor, Priya, asked me to review this book, my first thought was, “Yaaaaaaaas! New recipies!.” Having said that, Goretti’s book did not excite me much after I went through the listed recipes. What I did love was the narrative that came with the recipes. Goretti is, clearly, a storyteller and the tiny pieces of life she presents before each month is what I enjoyed. She clearly has an eye for simplicity. This was reflected in her recipes and well as her layouts and designs. The subtle colours, adorable mason jars and tiny hearts that were sprinkled across the book really do make it a great look through.

I did venture into my kitchen to put together some of the recipes. The soups were my favorites: the palak soup and the potato and leek soup have made it into my daily diet. The grilled zucchini stuffed with arrabiata pasta was another favourite along with the chicken breast in coconut cream. I do wish she had some more “fun” desserts but, I think, her simplicity is her superpower. Also, she has spent a lot of time balancing the flavours and that really makes the food sooo good! I cannot stress enough on the design and the photography of the book, it just made me super hungry (actually, I am hungry just thinking about it all!).

With the holiday season around the corner, Goretti’s book makes for a great present. And here’s wishing Goretti lots of success in all her endeavours. Maybe next time, she could take a step back, and focus on just some stories.

Beauty Talks with Jacqueline Fernandez | Exclusive Interview

We have always been a fan of actress Jacqueline Fernandez' luscious locks and flawless skin. And her association with one of our favourite beauty brands - The Body Shop, is like an icing on the cake. She is the perfect ambassador for promoting skincare products with a cause. Her no-make up selfies and glowing skin has always been the subject of conversations. So, if her Instagram posts don't inspire you to take of your skin immediately, we don't know what will!
Post an event (where she was spotted launching the all new Spas of the World and Oils of Life range by The Body Shop), we caught up with Jacqueline for an exclusive chat on all things skincare. Dressed in a canary yellow matching separates by Be The Circus and stunning Louboutins, Jacqueline was being her usual self - enthusiastic, energetic and ever - so - happy. After a quick chat on our favourite products by The Body Shop (Yes! We both love the Fuji Green Tea range), we settled down to decode her beauty secrets. Excerpts from a fun conversation:

What's your favourite product from the latest range by The Body Shop?
Ah! It is very difficult for me to choose just one, because I have been using a lot stuff by The Body Shop and have become very fond of some products. Every time a new range is launched, I test almost every single product. There is something amazing for each season, with different fragrances and ingredients. I love the fact that they keep introducing new stuff almost once every month. Right now, I am loving the creams, which have an incredible texture and are perfect for winter. Once you use any cream by The Body Shop, it is very difficult to move on to anything else. Also, my current favourite is the Oils of Life range, and I particularly like the Facial Oil (read our review here) which is perfect for winters.

What's that one beauty mantra that you swear by?
Indulge in hair spas, or best, ensure that you oil your hair regularly. Go for a facial steam. Also, I have always found facial massages very useful. One won't really pay attention to something like this, but as a kid, I would always watch my Mom massaging her skin well while moisturising. And now, we also have facial massagers that can be used with your regular cream or oil. I think it's a very important element that needs to be included in our daily skincare regime, as it helps in more elasticity and keeps your skin feeling smooth.

And your personal beauty mantra for winters?
Moisturise, moisturise and moisturise. Ensure your skin is well hydrated!

Was there any particular product or skincare regime that you loved while growing up in Sri Lanka?
Nothing particular as such, because both India and Sri Lanka are like sister countries and we pretty much share the same ideals when it comes to beauty, especially the ingredients. We are very big on the properties of coconut, so we do use it a lot for skin and hair care. Also, we use a lot of natural ingredients, especially from exotic fruits, just like India. Plus, consuming them does help in maintaining good skin and hair.

What was the first beauty product that you remember using?
I think it was one of my mom's creams. So, I used it for moisturising. That is one thing I clearly remember. Every time I used to see my Mom getting ready for work, she would be moisturising her skin well. She would always see it to that her skin felt good. So, I guess that is one thing I took from her. No matter how much time it takes, I always make sure that I moisturise my skin well everyday. I am really huge on creams and anything that makes your skin smell and feel good. Also, that is one reason why The Body Shop's upcoming Spas of the World range is amazing. The ingredients leave your skin feeling smooth and supple. It's like pampering yourself at home.

Jacqueline Fernandez at the launch of The Body Shop's new range

So, do you follow a regular skincare routine?
Yeah, I do. And I think CTM (Cleansing, Toning and Moisturising) is extremely important. Also, I never go to bed with my make up on. That's a huge no-no. I always use a good make up remover, which is easy on the eyes. Also, a good cleanser is essential. I use the Vitamin E cleanser by The Body Shop, which makes my skin feel squeaky clean after a long day. I also use toners and moisturisers. But now, I have also included the facial oil in my daily skin routine. The skin needs to feel hydrated, supple during winter and the facial oil leaves my skin feeling just that.

Do you think fitness plays a major role in the way your skin looks?
Absolutely! Exercising regularly takes good care of your skin from within. The minute you have good skin, half your battle is won, as you will require less covering up. Just a little bit of enhancements on the eyes, lips and you are done. So, taking good care of your skin is extremely important, with the right amount of sleep, good diet, exercise and the right products.

What are favourite your make up essentials?
I allow my skin to breathe as much as possible. Even at home, there's no make up at all. But, I always ensure that I am wearing sunscreen. But, when I step out, some of my essentials include a good concealer, BB cream that can both moisturise and provide decent coverage, a nice primer to smoothen out your skin. More than that, it depends. If I feel like making my eyes pop, I go for lots of mascara or if the lips, then bold lipsticks. But my most favourite make up item has to be a Blush. Using a blush is very important! That is definitely my essential.

Nail Art Inspiration for the Party Season | LYN Nails

$

It's that time of the year when work takes a backseat for a while (for some, not all) and everybody is busy soaking in the fun, frolic and chilled atmosphere of the part season. While most of you have got your Christmas and NYE plans set, and have also got their party outfits, the last trip would be to a salon to get a quick make up and hair fix. For those of you who are looking to try something unique on their nails, look no further, because LYN (Live Your Now) Nails has the best collection of some really fabulous colours, available in different textures and finish.

Recently, they launched their Shades of Grey range, which includes (as the name suggests) some really amazing hues from the grey family. You can choose from glossy, matte, shimmer or metallic, there is something for everyone. For someone who has been using products by LYN Nails since quite time, the brand has got me hooked on to their latest range, especially the colours titled - Grey's Anatomy and Eat Grey Love. In this post, we give you 5 nail art inspirations, clicked at the launch party of this range, that are perfect for the party season. They are all about bling, shimmer and glitter, but are don't scream 'OTT' at all. Plus, grey is a versatile colour. So, even if you make last minute outfit changes (and the whole ordeal leaves you feeling stressed), your manicure won't leave you worried.

Metallic Wonder: Who doesn't like a colourful french manicure? But, what if that is topped with the most gorgeous metallic silver shade? We like how the LYN manicure team paired these two shades - light lilac and metallic silver, to create this wonderful combination. Perfect for the NYE party, and your regular office meeting the next day.

Chevron Magic: Another stunning combination, but this time, with a black chevron on metallic silver. The result? Beautiful nails that are good to go with your LBD. This looks perfect on both, individuals with short or long nails. You can also go a step further to try chevrons in other colours, including purple, wine or even pop hues.

Bling is In: Love subtle bling? Then, this one's for you. While the rest of your nails get dressed up in grey and a coat of A thing for Bling, one nail on each hand gets decked up in double coats of metallic grey and some glitter to top it off. Clearly, a favourite for weddings and parties this season.

Art with a Twist: Another one with a hint of metallic silver and a coat of the glitter shade - A thing for Bling. But, we love how the nail art got a fun twist with the ring finger nail getting a chain inspired design in black. You too can try a quirky design (perhaps a snow flake or santa hat should be perfect this season).

Going Grey: And that's what I got done. Since I had just 10 minutes to spare for a quick nail art, the artist suggested a coat of the glitter shade - A thing for Bling. But, I opted for two coats of my favourite - Grey's Anatomy, and then, a coat of the glitter shade to finish. The nail art looked classy and elegant, yet fun and glittery. It's amazing how you can play with these shades in interesting ways, to great a new look every week (though these nail paints last a good 10 - 12 days, depending upon the number of coats applied).

Do you have a favourite? Are you keen to try any of these styles? Take your pick from the wide variety of nail paints by LYN Nails (available at Nykaa. Manicure / Pedicure available at Juice salons).

Christmas Gift Kits | The Body Shop Glazed Apple Review

Gifting has never felt so good. Oh yes, and what really makes me happy is the fact that this is one of those few gifting options that supports a cause. In case you are one of the many individuals, who still hasn't picked up a Christmas Gift Kit for your loved one, head to The Body Shop store right now. They have got some amazing gift kits, packed in super cute boxes and wrappers, and each gift helps in providing clean water to people who are deprived of it. Want to know more? Read on.

Christmas is a magical, happy time. But, that should be for everyone, right? Sadly, there are people who are deprived of basic necessities, like food, shelter and the most basic need - Water. While we keep wondering if we have had our water intake for the day, there are people who survive on just one pitcher for the entire family, that too, filled with dirty or muddy water. For over 650 million people across the world, access to safe water is not even possible and around 1,400 people die each day from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation. This year, The Body Shop has partnered with WaterAid to help transform lives through access to safe water. For every specially selected gift bought at The Body Shop, WaterAid can provide a family in Ethiopia with one day of safe water. Currently, the store is filled with some amazing gift kits, right from skincare special to perfumes and even make up. While there are gift kits of popular collections like Strawberry and Fuji Green Tea, one can also take their pick from two new collections - Glazed Apple and Cranberry - that are available in cute travel friendly boxes.

What? - The Body Shop Christmas Gift Kit (Glazed Apple)
Contents: One Apple shower gel, One Apple body butter and One Lily mini fine mesh / loofah
Quantity: Apple shower gel - 60ml, Apple body butter - 50ml

Price: Rs 995 for the full kit
Packaging: Same as the big sized bottle and jar. The shower gel comes in a plastic bottle with a flip flap cap, while the body butter is housed neatly in a plastic jar.

Texture: Glazed Apple body butter, just like others by The Body Shop, is soft, creamy and non-greasy. Glazed Apple shower gel forms a rich lather and post shower, leaves your skin feel supple and squeaky. Both the products are perfect for winter.

Fragrance: It's a lot like sitting amidst a whole lot of apples! But, the fragrance of both the shower gel and body butter is nice and subtle, not too overpowering. We like how it's not too fruity. And yes, the fragrance of the body butter is addictive and very peculiar. Apply it once and those around you will definitely ask about the fragrance.

Verdict: The Body Shop gets yet another winner, this time in the form of their globally popular Christmas range - Glazed Apple. During winter, we have always sweared by their Shea range. But this year, the brand has got us addicted to the delightful glazed apple collection. And the Christmas gift kits make for a win-win situation. It helps you pick some unique gifts for your loved ones, while making a family in Ethiopia smile this festive season.

Have you picked any gift kits from The Body Shop this christmas? If yes, share your experience on Twitter or Snapchat at - priyaadivarekar

I don't live a luxurious life. My needs are limited - Nana Patekar | Exclusive Interview

$

The first day of January will be a special day for most us, as we get set to ring in the new year. But, actor Nana Patekar has got multiple reasons to celebrate. While he turns a year older tomorrow, his much awaited, most ambitious Marathi project - Natsamrat - will also hit the screens. While the advance bookings and early reviews are already working in the film's favour, Patekar already looked satisfied. He is extremely happy about the way Natsamrat has turned out, and is satisfied with the response that the trailer had garnered, with even Amitabh Bachchan going gaga over the glimpses of his portrayal of Ganpatrao Belvalkar. While an occasion like this would otherwise see an actor celebrating with great pomp, Nana has decided to keep it low, as always, keeping in mind the crisis faced by farmers in Maharashtra. I caught up with the actor on a quiet weekday afternoon. Dressed in his usual, simple attire - a crisp white sadra lehanga, Nana walked in and after a warm welcome (I always touch his feet for blessings before a conversation), we quickly settled down with a hot cup of tea in our hands, to discuss Natsamrat, NAAM and more. Excerpts from a delightful conversation with the inspirational actor:

You had stated that Natsamrat is one of the most ambitious projects in your career as an actor. What made it so special?
I have no two doubts about the fact that Natsamrat is a great film. Kiran Yadnyopavit has done an incredible job of adapting and working on the original script by V.V Shirwadkar and Mahesh (Manjrekar) is a fantastic director. After this film, even if I don't act or do a film, it won't make any difference to me as an artist. That's how incredible the film has turned out to be, at least for me. As for that commercial aspects, that shall depend on the audience, but I can vouch for the fact that even non - Marathi speaking audience members will understand and love the film. Acting in this film has given great satisfaction to the artist in me. Playing Ganpatrao Belvalkar was an emotionally draining process, but the experience was truly special. He is a retired actor, who continues to live in nostalgia. Even while walking from one place to another, he switches between Hamlet to Prataprao or an Othello. The story remains the same, but we have tweaked things a little bit.

Were there any pre-shoot workshops or rehearsals that the cast went through?
I used to sit with the script all day, understanding the character and his personality. I personally believe that thoroughly reading the script and knowing your character in and out really helps, because you become one with it.

Do you think a role like that of Ganpatrao Belvalkar provides great creative satisfaction to an artist?
Absolutely! It does, to a great extent. Essaying a character like this ensures that you go through a lot of sleepless nights and pain, like I said, it can get drain you out.

You recently announced that you will be shifting focus towards producing films. How did that happen?
There many ways to earn money, but for me, producing films is not one of them. Through production, I can make films based on topics, issues or stories that I believe in. The kind of conviction I may have about a particular story or issue, may not necessarily appeal to a producer, who has to finance the film. Hence, this decision. My son will be heading the production house and the main focus will be on serious films. Also, I have told my son, it is not necessary that I need to star in all the films under our banner (laughs). He is free to cast any actor, and the film's fate will also be his lookout. There won't be any interference from my side in anyway.

There are reports that you will be seen in an international film based in the pre-independence era.
Yes, we are in talks. To be honest, I am not very fluent with the language. For someone who started learning basic english in a village only after standard 5th, and later, spent time with brushes and paints at JJ School of Arts, I am very good with the right use of English words and sentences. Even in college, I felt like the society is making fun of the fact that I don't know English and would often have an inferiority complex. But later in life, I did a Kannada film and realised, that I could pick up the language pretty well. So, I thought to myself, if I can learn Kannada, why can't I do an English film? At least, I fairly know the language and can learn. Let's see how it goes. As you said, it is indeed set during the pre-independence era and is a political film.

When will we get to see you on stage? It's been quite sometime since you did a play.
In all probability, you will see me in Saumya Joshi's next play, where my character is that of a 102-year-old man, whose son is 75. The father wants to beat the world record of the oldest living man (i.e 112 years) and since that requires him to live in a peaceful, happy environment, he doesn't want to see his son's detonating condition. This father plans to leave his son in an old age home, but his son does not want to leave and requests the father to allow him to stay. The former agrees, albeit with a few conditions for his son, which includes weird tasks like writing a love letter for his dead wife, discussing memories of his childhood among others. Within a few weeks, his son's condition starts improving and the audience realises that the whole exercise was the father's plan to enable his son to fight the world and face it on his own. In the end, the father dies, with a dream to see his son beating the world record of the oldest living man. It's a beautiful script, and I am planning to approach Mohan Agashe to play my son's role. Hopefully, it should pan out well.

Your commendable work for the NAAM foundation is being talked about by everyone.
You know, a few days back, somebody asked me, "Aap kis vajese kisaano ko yeh paisa de rahe hain?" The thing is, like most of us, I have been saving some amount of money since years. I didn't know what to do with the collected amount. Some people might spend that kind of money on clothes, cars or jewellery. But for me, instead of using 1 crore for buying a car, bringing a smile on a farmer's face mattered more. I don't live a luxurious lifestyle. I lead a simple life, my needs are very limited. If you have money which you won't use, it makes sense to offer it to someone in need. Also, Makarand (Anaspure) is doing a brilliant job. He is well connected with all the NGOs and families in several rural areas and villages. He is a great human being. My first priority was to ensure that the money reaches the families of farmers who have committed suicide. Our global climate has gone for a toss, and one cannot predict rainfall or extreme cold / heat anymore. It is difficult for farmers to harvest crops, which usually die due to the climatic conditions, and with heavy debts on their head, they commit suicide. Can you imagine the plight of those young widows? They are hardly in their early 20s, with little children in their arms, and are going through a lot of pain to make two ends meet. Also, the way our society looks at a widow is not very positive. There are evil minded people who are always looking for way to use or hurt these young girls. All this could lead to a lot of trouble in the future for their families. I am emotionally attached to these people. I don't want to roam around in a Mercedes, at a time when our country continues to lose one farmer after another. Aisi luxury ka kya fayda?

During our last interview, you had mentioned that you will be directing the third instalment of Ab Tak Chhappan. Is that project still on?
I want to work on the third instalment on my own. I am very serious about the fact that the story, direction and other important aspects need to be monitored by me. Otherwise, I won't do the film. I am not comfortable with their constant interference. Right now, I am focusing on another project, which will be helmed by me. A little girl will be seen as the lead protagonist and you will also see me in an important role. I am currently looking for suitable locations in Kathmandu and the Himalayas for our shoot. There is also a biopic on Baba Amte, which I will produce and direct.

Have you got a chance to watch any new film?
Honestly, I don't watch too many films. I am passionate about reading, and I can keep reading books for hours. Also, I love visiting villages and meeting people. Mujhe logon ko padhne ka shauk hain. Reading their face, understanding their pain and getting to know more about their lifestyle. I don't connect with them as an actor, but as a human being. As for films, I catch them later on television, whenever I get the time.

We never saw you work with Amitabh Bachchan, despite the much appreciated equation in Kohram.
Kya pata? Kisine cast hi nahi kiya (smiles). But, he is a good friend and we got along very well. I still remember how once on the sets, I complimented him about his look and said, "Wah! Beehtareen shirt pehan ke aaye ho." After wrapping up the shoot for that day, I went back to my vanity, only to see his shirt hanging inside my vanity van. I was later informed that he wore my shirt and went back home. I still have that shirt with me. Then one day, he was distributing sweets and I casually asked, "What happened?" He exclaimed with joy, stating that his daughter had given birth to a child, and he is now a 'Nana'. "Itne saal lag gaye? Mujhe dekh, main janam se Nana hoon," was my instant response (laughs).

Is there any actor of this generation whose work left you feeling impressed?
Not really. No actor from the current crop has left an impression or can inspire. I look upto great actors like Balraj Sahni, Motilal sahab, Yakub sahab, Nutanji. These days, actors are only focusing on running the 100 / 200 / 300 crore race. But, I had recently seen the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and loved the efforts put in by the cast.

Who has been your biggest inspiration in life?
My parents, especially my mother. Even at the age of 95, she lives by the 'never give up' attitude. Fourteen years back, she was diagnosed with cancer and was told that she won't survive. Even after that, she has gone through several operations for various problems. A few months back, she broke her hand, which resulted in a compound fracture. Despite the pain and medication, after four days, I saw her walking with the help of a walker. Her strength, will power is incredible and she is a great inspiration. Also, I look up to Baba Amte.

We always see you working or running around to help people. Do you ever get the time to take a break or enjoy a holiday?
Whenever I take a break, I don't look out for exotic destinations. I find solace in my farm. Spending time with animals is a different experience and I find it very relaxing. Their silence speaks volumes. I like spending time in a peaceful environment and there is nothing better than being surrounded by nature.

You will be turning a year older on the 1st of January. What's the secret behind your fit body, mind and soul?
I am 65 now, but I always ensure that I work out for at least 2 hours everyday. It is very important for an individual to look after their body. I am not someone who is fussy about food and I eat everything. I don't go out partying or spending hours at events that don't appeal to me. Also, I don't smoke, so that helps.

2015 has been a wonderful year - Deepika Padukone | Exclusive Birthday Interview

Once again, the year belonged to Deepika Padukone, as she charmed her fans and cinema goers with delightful performances, one film after another. With Piku, she broke stereotypes and won several hearts with her impactful act, while with Tamasha, she earned accolades and love for her impeccable performance as Tara. Deepika ended the year with a bang, as she stormed the box office with an epic love saga - Bajirao Mastani. As the charming and beautiful warrior princess Mastani, Padukone created magic on the screen with her graceful performance. Needless to say, the actress is all set to sweep multiple awards yet again (well, the rounds have already begun, as she has already bagged two Best Actress trophies at a few recently concluded award functions). The stunning actress celebrates her 30th birthday today, and currently, she is on a much deserved break. On her special day, we bring you an up, close and personal conversation with Deepika Padukone, where she speaks about films, fashion, life and more.

On 2015
It has been a wonderful year, on both the professional and personal front. I couldn't have asked for more. From Piku to Tamasha, and now, Bajirao Mastani, each film has been special.

On Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Our actress - director relationship has been based purely on trust. It is a pleasure and honour to work with him, especially in two beautiful films. He is a taskmaster, and a very demanding director. He is very clear about what he wants and in that process, he pushes you to discover something new in yourself. Something that even you didn’t know. In that process of working under a hard taskmaster, you learn so much. Portraying Mastani and working on the film has been the most difficult experience of my life, but when you see the end result, everything seems worth it!

On Imtiaz Ali
Over time, there is a lot of trust, love and respect that grows between an actor-director, who have worked together on a few films. The same goes for Imtiaz and me. It won't be wrong to say that I am his fan, and in a lot ways, I also admire him. It is almost like a modern day guru - shishya relationship, because we are also friends and the fact that he is always open to criticism and advice from our end as well. That is because of our love for him. Imtiaz understands the human being that I am. He values your opinion and will be all ears to listen to you at any time. And I love sharing my thoughts with him for two reasons, because he is non-judgemental and the fact that he has known me almost since the time I started off in this industry. I take his advice very seriously. And that is largely how we worked on Tamasha. We were not bound by a ready script. A lot of times, we were just asked to improvise. Imtiaz would just call us and say, "These are the lines, but I want you to improvise and act it out the way you would. Show me what all you can do." That's the kind of freedom he likes to give his actors and puts his trust in you, in order to make sure that you deliver your best.

On Fashion
Fashion for me is what I believe in. The clothes that I wear should suit my body structure and I should be able to carry it off with ease. I am not dictated by fashion masters telling me, “You should wear this, because it is in trend.” Every individual should just go out there and wear what suits your personality. There’s much more to life than just following trends. Also, I have never been someone who is conscious about the brand that I wear nor have I been loyal to any particular brand. I have never been brand conscious. It’s all about the kind of stuff that I like wearing.

On Films
I am someone who believes an actor needs to be honest about their work and give their 100 per cent while working on a film. It is that honesty and truth that shows when the film releases and eventually, reflects at the box office too. When you are honest about your work, the audience can see that very well. A recent example of this was Piku. There was no planned release date, no big announcements. A lot of people would say, "why are you doing this film?" Oh! You are paired opposite Irrfan, so weird!" But, I had a lot of faith in the film and its content. Our intentions for making this film were very true and honest. Everything else just follows. And eventually, the film got a great reception and a lot of love.

On the Film Industry
I am a 'go with the flow' kind of a person, and I am quite happy with the way things are going in the industry. No regrets.

On Style statement
My style has always been simple, very basic. I like my outfits to be comfortable and wearable. It’s been this way since sometime and my style hasn’t changed a bit. You will never see me in anything that makes me feel ill-at-ease. I might experiment with styles like, edgy or goth for my photoshoots, but that doesn’t come naturally to me. My everyday, casual look would be white teamed up with either tan or denim. I like my clothes to be in lighter hues, more like a white or some pastel shades. Another colour that I like is coral. Also, I don’t really like accessorising too much. A simple watch or a good pair of sunglasses is enough.

On Live, Love, Laugh
The fight against depression is a cause very close to my heart and is one of the largest health issues that the country is facing today. Having experienced depression in the recent past, I realise how difficult it is to recognise the problem, find information and get the right kind of professional help. during the initial stage, the foundation will work on removing the stigma attached to depression and spread awareness about it. All the information will be available on our website for anyone who needs any kind of help in dealing with stress, anxiety or depression.

On 2016
I haven't signed any film. So, there is nothing that I am working on as of now.

The Multi Tasker | Asus ZenPad 7.0

$

From what I can remember, I have been multi-tasking and working on several things at the same time since childhood. Assignments, work and my approach towards time management kept changing, but the multi-tasker in me is still the same. I just cannot stay still in one place, without doing something new. I love working on multiple projects, discovering something to learn and stepping into new roles everyday. Thanks to my super busy schedule, a lot of times, I end up editing, proof reading posts and working on social media assignments while traveling. That's the only time (thanks to our massive traffic jams), apart from burning the midnight lamp, where I can sit back and work on editing. While traveling, I always prefer working on a tablet (carrying a laptop is a big no-no on event / recording hopping days). And that's where the Asus December 2015 launch - Zen Pad 7.0 - comes to the rescue.

The Asus ZenPad 7.0 is a good looking gadget, which is packed with some impressive features. It has a 7 inch display and we absolutely love the chrome lining around the screen area, which gives it a classy and sleek look. The one we reviewed came with two covers - the regular plastic cover and a gorgeous audio cover, which is definitely one of the biggest highlights of this gadget. But that's not all, there is much more to this stunning ZenPad, then what meets the eye. This gadget comes as a huge relief to fellow multi-taskers, who like working on the go, and is packed with some seriously impressive features. Read on to know about our favourite aspects.

7-inch display: Comfortable to use and not very huge. It fits your hand perfectly (though it is slightly bigger than my palm, there was no discomfort while typing or clicking pictures) and is not very bulky. The display makes it comfortable for your eyes to edit / proof read and even read updates on the go.

Expandable storage up to 128 GB: While the gadget comes with 16gb internal storage, it can be expanded up to 128 GB, which is perfect for those who want a good mix of songs, photos and videos on their gadget.

8mp camera: While the rear camera has a good 8mp camera, even the front 2mp camera is quite decent and ensures you get some amazing selfies. Moreover, it comes with in-built beautification options, filters and options to shoot GIF images as well. Even the video quality, which is full HD, is great.

Calling Facility: Always wanted a tablet that can help you make calls? Then, look no further. ZenPad 7.0 comes with a SIM slot, making it easy to make / receive calls as well.

Sound: Hands the best part about this gadget, ZenPad is a must have for music lovers, thanks to a great audio output. Those who buy it with the audio cover definitely have an edge, as the cover ensures you hear your favourite tracks in crystal clear sound. Watching movies with the cover on is a lot of fun, thanks to the inclusion of 5 speakers and one subwoofer, which are placed under the sound bar area on the audio cover. You will get used to ditching your headphones more often, thanks to the incredible sound quality.

We have been testing this gadget for over a fortnight, and so far, the experience has been great. Asus 7.0 ZenPad works on ZenUI with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The battery life is average, with around 3450 mAh battery and an average of 6 hours screen-time (with the audio cover). On the technical / software front, we haven't experienced any difficulty or lags. The gadget works smoothly and like we said, watching videos / films on this ZenPad is pure delight. Another plus point of buying the Audio cover is the fact that is comes with 2300 mAh battery, making it easier for you to charge your gadget while the cover is on. Being music lovers, we are loving it and how!

Pros
- Incredible sound
- Easy to carry, as the gadget is light and sleek
- Good camera quality for images with natural light
- Good HD video quality
- Perfect for on the go work

Cons
- No in-built FM

Verdict: If you are looking for a mini home theatre in your hands, that can be used to watch videos and enjoy movies while traveling (and get some work done as well), then the Asus 7.0 ZenPad is a must have!

Price: Rs14,999 with audio cover
Available in three colours - Black, Silver and White

Happy Birthday Sushant Singh Rajput | 5 reasons why we love SSR

$

It's amazing how in a span of just seven years, actor Sushant Singh Rajput has created a strong impact in the industry! It started from ruling the telly tube and eventually led him to becoming the rising superstar of Bollywood. He was much loved in a daily soap titled Pavitra Rishta in 2009, and his natural portrayal of the garage owner - Manav, won several hearts. His natural act, confidence and sincerity, plus the ever growing fan base and popularity, helped him bag an amazing Bollywood debut in the form of Kai Po Che. Since then, there has been no looking back. From turning detective to a lover boy, Sushant has done it all, and now, all eyes are set on M.S.Dhoni - The Untold Story; one of the much awaited films of 2016, where the actor has stepped into the shoes of captain cool. As the actor turns 30 today, we take a look at moments and reasons, that make SSR one of the most loved young superstars of Bollywood today!

 Dream Dancer
We all know that he was a part of SDIPA (Shiamak Davar's Dance Institute) and performed at several award functions, including Filmfare. But, what really leaves us in awe is his sincerity and dedication towards the art form. He is a constant learner and loves exploring new dance forms. He performs like a dream, and we have been fortunate to see several glimpses of his flawless performances in shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Also, remember, Bach ke Bakshy? Though, we wish to see him dance more often on the big screen.

Fitness First!
One look at his lifestyle, and we can't help but get inspired. Despite the work load and hectic schedule, Sushant makes it a point to follow his workout routine religiously. His inspirational fitness videos - #TillIGetItRight - on YouTube are proof. The actor has always been vocal about maintaining a healthy, fit lifestyle and recently, even spoke about how he ushered tons of positivity in his life after kicking the butt (read: he quit smoking and inspired others to do it too).

Conventional Route? Naaa!!
Not the one who follows the typical, old school route, Sushant has preferred walking on the unconventional path, right from the early stage of his career. He is not someone who is bound by mediocrity. Instead of opting for stereotypical roles or sticking to one genre, he went for unique scripts and experimented with his characters. Be it Raghu - the tourist guide or the charming Sarfaraz, Sushant has always left us impressed with his acting skills.

Professionalism
Sushant balances his professional and personal life very well. He avoids becoming a part of controversies, and instead, prefers to shift all his focus towards work. He is known to have a professional approach towards all his commitments and is always punctual.

Being Human
The actor is known to be very humble and rooted. He has always confessed that no matter where he goes or what he does, he will never forget his middle class roots. Sushant, who comes from a humble family and went through a lot to struggle, does not believe in giving up and dares to dream. In a recent interview, he confessed that he constantly strives to realise his full potential and become a good human being. His positive and real approach towards life, and philosophical thoughts (often seen on his official Twitter account) make him a very cool, young inspirational actor!

We wish you a very happy birthday, Sushant! Have an incredible 2016. Keep shining.

The Big Barbie Makeover

$

0

I'll make this an honest confession. Like most girls my age who grew up in the 90s, I have grown playing with Barbie dolls (and Hot Wheels too. I am cool that way). But, my obsession with these shiny, glamorous dolls was something else.  I was never one of those who would rip Barbie's bright blonde hair or tear apart those fancy outfits (Even today, I cringe at the thought of kids torturing their dolls). In fact, most of my Barbie dolls, ranging from Princess Barbie to Sticker Craze and even the limited edition Holiday Collection Special, stayed put in their respective boxes and were kept neatly on shelves. They were almost like a prized possession. My friends would often come over, only to see my huge collection. Relatives and friends of my parents would go 'Woah' after looking at my sincerity towards these dolls (Yes! There was a point when I had almost 80 dolls. I still have many of them. Too precious, but I did part away with some of them, in order to make other kids else smile).

Now, this is post has nothing to do with my obsession of Barbie, but a recent piece of big news about Barbie's much anticipated makeover is creating some serious buzz. Despite being the darling of several young girls and the makers - Mattel supporting women empowerment through various career themed dolls, Barbie has faced a lot of criticism for being 'too perfect' and 'unrealistic'. While there were reports about Barbie aka Barbara Millicent Roberts getting a new look, Mattel has finally revealed the transformation that their iconic 57-year-old doll has gone through. The doll will come out in three new body shapes. Yes! Barbie will now be seen in a tall, petite and curvy version, which will be sold alongside the original model. This is the biggest transformation for Mattel's Barbie in their 57 year long history. The campaign is called #TheDollEvolves and a confirmation regarding the same was posted on Barbie's official Twitter account.

It is not just the body that will undergo some serious transformation. Barbie will also be available in new skin tones and hair textures, some of which were already introduced last year. While it is certainly a huge risk and change for Mattel, we think evolution is the need of the hour and the new version will slowly and steadily connect with the kids of today, who can’t seem to take their eyes off or stop themselves from getting addicted to mobile gaming world.
The dolls are now available for sale on the company's official website - Barbie.com and will appear in retail stores later in 2016. We can't wait to see them in India!!

What's your take on these transformed Barbie dolls? Leave a comment or join the conversation on Twitter and Facebook.

The light texture and packaging makes this product super travel friendly. That's all we can reveal for now, as we will be talking about the product in detail soon.

Must Check Out - Skincare: Clinique Dark Circle Recovery Kit

Dark circles are a major concern for almost everyone, and one of our favourite skincare brands - Clinique - has come up with a Dark Circle Recovery Kit, which aims at lightening the under eye area over time through a three step process.  The kit includes - Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector (a gentle, tinted eye treatment formula to lighten the entire eye area and prime skin before makeup),  All About Eyes Concealer (a multi-tasking, long-wearing, moisturising concealer that not only disguises dark under-eye circles but also reduces the look of puffiness) and finally, the Quickliner for Eyes Intense (distract attention from dark circles with our phenomenally versatile eye pencil for all day wear). Always wanted to surprise your loved ones with a caring gift? Don't think it can get better than this. Or perhaps, it can make for a good self help gift as well.

Must Watch - Film: Neerja and Fitoor
While one tells the tale of a brave heart, the other is a cinematic adaption of one of Charles Dickens' most popular novels. February looks like a good month for films as we have Fitoor and Neerja releasing one week after another. Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor has been in the news since quite sometime, thanks to the multiple changes in cast and more recently, Katrina Kaif's hair makeover worth 55 lakh. But, the promos have caught our eye and we think this Aditya Roy Kapoor - Katrina - Tabu starrer is something to watch out for. Fitoor hits the screens on February 12.
On the other hand, we have Sonam Kapoor stepping into the shoes of PanAm braveheart Neerja Bhanot, in a biopic titled Neerja. We are loving Sonam's look in the film and the promos have already left us speechless. Some scenes are enough to give you goosebumps. The film shows an important journey of a girl, who single handedly changed the lives of several passengers, while sacrificing her own. We have got your eyes on ad-man Ram Madhvani's directorial debut. Neerja is all set to release on February 19.

Must Read - Book: Anything But Khamosh
We all know him as the industry's most loved 'Chainu' or 'Kalicharan'. But, for those who always wanted to know about the struggle that went behind the making of legendary actor Shatrughan Sinha,  we suggest you pick up his biography. Anything But Khamosh: The Shatrughan Sinha Biography - by popular veteran journalist Bharti Pradhan, is a fascinating read that retraces journey of India’s most popular Bihari Babu. Let us know if you would like us to review this book!

Must Use: Lipstick - Maybelline Lip Gradation
Experimenting with your lip colours just got easier. Well, ladies, the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation is here and it promises to help you experiment with different looks everyday. The lip gradation is a buttery soft powder stick with a color stick at one end and a cushion blender on the other side and comes in eight powder shades. Maybelline claims that these are lipsticks have highly saturated pigments to give you a gorgeous pop of colour (well, we can figure that out once we try it, yes?) The Maybelline Lip gradation is priced at Rs 500.

Must Visit: Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (Mumbai)
February is not just about love. In Mumbai, it also marks the beginning of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. The week long festival includes art installations, workshops, performances, and specially curated exhibitions that will keep the art lover in you hooked on. Plus, shopaholics can head straight to the Rhythm House lane, where a wide variety of items from across the nation (Yes! I like reinventing myself with everything that I do - Sonam Kapoor | Exclusive Interview

$

0

It’s a breezy afternoon, and one can’t miss the flurry of activities at actor Anil Kapoor’s suburban office. Amid stylists arranging outfits for the next event and her team working on weekly schedules, we spot actress Sonam Kapoor, calmly seated on a comfortable lounger, giving media bytes. Dressed in a gorgeous Dolly J maxi and a pair of Louboutins, Sonam looked her stylish best as always. “It’s been a long day full of questions and answers,” stated the actress. But she doesn’t rush through the process and settles down for a chat while saying, “Shoot your questions. I am all ears.”

Be it creating the Dubsmash rage on social media and inspiring others to do the ‘thumka’ like her on Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’s title track or portraying characters like the feisty Dolly (Dolly Ki Doli) and elegant Maithili (PRDP), Sonam has had a great 2015. The fact that she experiments with characters explains her fondness towards venturing into untested waters and accepting challenges as a way of learning new things. “I enjoy the process of doing something new with every film. If I don’t do that, I won’t be challenging myself. I can’t do the same kind of characters over and over again. That would just be plain boring, right? On the creative front, that would mean getting into a stagnant zone. I like reinventing myself with everything that I do.”

Image Credit: Sanskriti Media and Entertainment
Sticking to the promise of reinventing herself with every film, Sonam’s next is the intense biopic, Neerja. She will be seen essaying the role of Late Neerja Bhanot - India’s youngest recipient of the Ashoka Chakra (highest peacetime military award for bravery). It was Neerja who sacrificed her life and saved more than 300 passengers on the ill fated Pan Am flight 73, that was hijacked on September 5, 1986. As part of her preparation and research for the character, Sonam trained to become an in-flight attendant and learned everything about the job. “That was the basic preparation required for this role. I also met Neerja’s friends, family members to understand more about her life. Since she was also a model, I saw all her advertisements. In fact, Neerja’s family had a beautiful audio recording of her in-flight announcement rehearsals, which also helped,” stated Sonam. But according to her, the biggest preparation was to become Neerja and understand her personality. Sonam adds, “It was important for me to know what she believed in and what she didn’t. So, I tried to imbibe her likes, dislikes, and morals. Because at the end of the day, she wasn’t in front of me. So, the process for me to know who she was happened through understanding her beliefs, values and principles.”

It was important for me to know what she believed in and what she didn’t. So, I tried to imbibe her likes, dislikes, and morals. Because at the end of the day, she wasn’t in front of me.
The actress believes that playing a courageous character like Neerja has made her stronger. “In fact, when we were shooting in the plane, at the end of every day, I would just go, ‘Thank god, I am out of the plane.’ By the end of the schedule, it was tough for me to believe that I get to leave this plane, but Neerja couldn’t,” said Sonam, adding that the journey has left a deep, positive impact on her mind. So much, that after working on Neerja, her perspective towards in-flight attendants has changed a lot. She adds, “I didn’t realise that 70 per cent of an in-flight attendant’s job is to ensure the safety of their passengers, while 30 per cent is service. People’s usual perception of them being glorified waiters / waitresses is just ridiculous and wrong. The kind of hard work that goes into this, and how duty bound they are, is just amazing. So now, when a flight attendant tells me to wear my seat belt, I do that immediately (smiles). Whether it is putting the window pane up or switching off my phone, I follow all the instructions politely. I have always been that way, because that’s how I have been brought up.”

But, she admits there were a few instances where she had forgotten to wear the seat belt or switch off her phone. “But now, there is no room for such things. I know that the flight attendants are responsible for my safety and I respect that! And, no matter how many pictures they want to take with me, I will never say no,” assures Sonam with a smile, as she gets ready to change into a gorgeous emerald green anarkali for her next meeting and signs off.

Valentine's Day Make Up and Outfit Tutorial | New Woman Magazine

February has been a 'lovely' month. Apart from being the month of love and happiness, it gave us a surprise in the form of a fun and exclusive editorial shot for one of India's leading lifestyle magazines - New Woman. Keeping in mind the demand for easy make up tutorials for a special date, the amazing team at New Woman invited me to work on a step-by-step date look guide, for both day and night. It is perfect for those who want to go the minimal way and keep it simple yet chic for a special occasion. In this post, I will be decoding a special Valentine's Day date look, for a lunch date or day out with your loved one.

Step One: Spray a facial mist on your face to let the make-up stay longer. I prefer using the MAC FixIt+. Two light pumps are enough to keep your face hydrated.
Step Two: Start with the base. I have mixed two shades of Revlon Nearly Naked Liquid Foundation - Fresh Beige and Shell. Mix a small quantity of both the shades and with the help of a brush, spread it evenly all over your face. Ensure that your face looks even and natural (we don't need a cakey look).

Step Three: Time to conceal blemishes and those pesky dark circles. I prefer using the concealer after using the foundation (tip: it helps save a lot of your product). Mark those blemishes and areas that you want to conceal. Blend it well with a blending brush or sponge. I have used the L'Oreal True Match concealer.

Step Four: Use some pressed powder foundation to set the base, and to ensure that there is no trace of sweat or grime. I have used the MAC Studio Fix pressed powder. Ensure you use it well on the t-zone with the help of a powder brush. You can skip this step if you feel your base is perfect and doesn't need a final touch up.

Step Five: Pick an eyeshadow hue that matches your outfit well. I chose a maple shade from the Sleek Matte Eyeshadow palette and applied it with the help of a brush. It was blended well with a silvery white shade from the same palette. I use my index finger for blending. You can use a brush as well. Tap off any excess shadow.

Step Six: Use a liquid eyeliner and wing it in a unique way. Split the ends of your wing into two, creating a twig. I have used the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Artist in black. The tip of this liquid liner is perfect for experiments. You can keep the line thick or thin, according to your preference. Add a little eyeliner on the inner corner of the eyes to open them up and to prevent your eyes from looking too pale.

Step Seven: Work some mascara. I have used two swipes of my favourite - MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara, which comes in a dual-wiper system. I have used the defined brush here, to add a more natural look.

Step Eight: Use a brow pencil and fill your brows well. Likewise, you can also use an eyeshadow that matches the shade of your brow hair and fill them in.

Step Nine: For my lips, I chose Clinique Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony, which is a nice fuchsia pink. You can add a tinge of red and blend the two colours as well. I prefer blending this shade with Lakme's Absolute Gloss Addict in Red Delight.

Step Ten: Use a blush that matches your skin type and complexion. I like both cream and powder based blushes, but for this look, I chose the Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush. With the help of a blush brush, apply it in an angular motion, blending from the apples of the cheeks towards the temples.

Step Eleven: Use an anti-frizz leave in on your hair to ensure there are no unwanted flyaways or frizz.  Set it with the help of a paddle brush and blow dry it gently, or you can choose to keep it natural. Leave your hair open and accessorise it with a chic hairband.

And there you go! All set for a lunch date with your loved one (or even a fun day out with your girl friends). We are huge fans of chic dresses that add some drama to an otherwise quiet afternoon date. Let us know how you like the look and if you will be trying it out this V-day. And do check out the full tutorial in the February issue of New Woman Magazine.

Date Night Make Up and Outfit Tutorial | New Woman Magazine

$

So, while we got you all set for a Lunch date in our previous post, it's time to glam up and get set for the ultimate date night. Ditch those typical LBDs and gowns for something more elegant this year. But hey, who said you have to let go of bling? In this post, we decode the make up and look book in a step-by-step tutorial, as featured in our special editorial for the New Woman Magazine (February Issue). Get set to look glamorous and achieve that perfect look for a special date night, this valentine's day.

Step One: Set the base as per your preference (you can follow the steps mentioned in our Day Date Look).
Step Two: Since we are creating a look for an evening / night date, I have added a hint of bling with darker hues on the eyes. Start with a light base colour and spread it well all over the eye area. I chose the 'Pure white' shade from the Sleek Matte Eyeshadow Palette. Next, I chose the shade 'Maple' (from the same palette) and blended it well with multiple strokes on the crease. The idea is to get a darker hue of the shade. Apply a hint of the 'Pure white' shade on the inner corner of your eyes.
Step Three: To add some drama, use a metallic eye shadow on the lid and blend it well. I have used the Kiko stick eye shadow in Golden Beige. Blend the maple and gold hues at the fold of your eyelid.

Step Three: Use a liquid eyeliner on the top lash line. Create a thin line using the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Artist (Black) and create inner inverted edges towards the end.

Step Four: To make your lashes look voluminous, add a swipe of the MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara. Use the large oriface to add volume for a dramatic look.

Step Five: To highlight your cheeks and get the perfect flushed cheeks, I used the Honey Bronze Highlighter by The Body Shop, which can be used both as a highlighter and a cream blush (use at least 3-4 layers for the colour to be visible). Start near the apple of your cheeks (image 1). Use it in the upwards direction (apple of the cheek to the temples). Start by blending with your fingers and then, use a blending brush for the finishing touches.

Step Six: Create an outline with your lip-liner. I have used the Kiko Lip Pencil in classic red. Fill in with a retro matt red lipstick like MAC Ruby Woo. For those who need a touch of gloss, you can choose the Lakme Absolute Gloss Addict in Red Delight.

For the Hair: Use an anti-frizz serum to ensure your hair stays in place. Make two tiny braids on both sides and pack them at the centre behind using pins. Spray some hairspray for better hold. You can also choose to curl the ends. Add some fancy hair accessories at the centre to complete the look. If you have side fringes, leave them naturally open for a chic look.

And finally, add some blingy drama to your outfit with a pair of metallic shoes and clutch. You can also choose to accessorise it with some rings, but I kept it simple and preferred to go the minimal way with just a cuff. Throw on a jacket, because nights continue to be cold in February! Oh and hey, enjoy your date.

Do let us and the amazing team at New Woman know how you like this look! Enjoy the Valentine's Weekend with your loved ones. And, don't forget to look your stylish best.

The Body Shop Black Musk Fragrance Range | Review

We have all been fans of the white musk range by The Body Shop for a long time now, haven't we? And then, we saw the success of their 2015 launch - Red Musk, a spicy and strong fragrance. This year, The Body Shop is back with a new launch and it is none other than a new addition to the Musk fragrance range family - The Black Musk. The new launch includes an EDP (eau de parfum), EDT (eau de toilette) and one of our favourites - a perfume oil. We were introduced to the range a little before it was formally launched at stores and their official website, and after experiencing it for a fortnight, here's what we think of The Body Shop's Black Musk range.

I have always loved The Body Shop products for their 'cruelty free' promise. And the Musk range - be it white, red or the new black - has always lived up to it. The musk used in these fragrances are cruelty free. It contains Community Fair Trade organic alcohol crafted from sugar cane that is harvested by co-operatives in South America. So, it's all good for you and our adorable animal friends.

The Body Shop refers to their Black Musk range as one of their most darkest and sensual fragrances. Well, I do agree with them on the sensual part, but this is definitely not one of their darkest fragrances. The range - comprising of an EDP, EDT and Perfume Oil, come packaged in elegant black glass bottles with a hint of fuchsia pink. The fragrance is a blend of sweet and sensuous note, which stays true to their 'Nice and Naughty' campaign. Although it has a few sweet notes, the musky and sensual notes do their job well, ensuring that the fragrance does feel overpowering. The opening notes feel like a blend of bergamot, pear and pink pepper (and trust me, that's where your affair with the fragrance begins).

As we further continued to test the fragrance, the middle notes began their work. While we can still feel the aroma of pear, there are hints of heliotrope, marzipan, almond, ylang ylang that linger on. Not to forget, notes of liquorice as well, which are very peculiar. Finally, as the fragrance begins to settle well, some of favourites including black musk, black vanilla, earthy patchouli, vetiver and chocolate set the end notes perfectly. All these notes help the Black Musk range of fragrances get its sensuous and not too overwhelming aroma, which is fast becoming one of our favourites.

The Body Shop Black Musk Eau de Parfum (EDP)
Quantity: 50ml
Price: Rs 3295

Our experience: We love the beautiful melange of the sweet and sensuous notes. It is perfect for a special evening occasion and is perfect for the festive winter mood. Just spritz it a few times and you are ready to go. The tiny elegant bottle is perfect to carry, except for the fact that it is not very travel friendly (glass bottles have their disadvantages). This is one of those few perfumes that can actually make you feel special and that too, without burning a huge hole in your pocket. The fragrance is intense and lingers on strongly for a good number of hours (in our case, a good six - seven hours).

Instagram

The Body Shop Black Musk Eau de Toilette (EDT)
Quantity: 60ml
Price: Rs 2195

Our experience: Well, the fragrance is same and so are our views on it. The aroma is a little less intense than the EDP and Perfume Oil. But, what really surprised was the fact that despite being an EDT, the lasting power of this product was actually very good. While most EDTs last anywhere around 2 hours, this one almost stayed on for 3 - 4 hours. I love wearing this EDT after a post-workout / run shower. It just makes me feel like I have walked out in a 'pure bliss' mode.

The Body Shop Black Musk Perfume Oil
Quantity: 20ml
Price: Rs 2095

Our experience: One of our personal favourites, the Black Musk Perfume Oil reminds us of the traditional 'Attar'.  Even the glass bottle with a dropper reminds us of those tiny attar bottles that you would find at most vintage shops. The oil is non-greasy and lingers on for a good 4 hours. It's the tiniest bottle from this range and can easily slip into your bag, without adding any extra weight. Oh, and don't worry about any spills (unless you end up breaking the bottle, of course). The bottle is neatly packed and the cap is well fitted. Despite being an oil based fragrance, the aroma is intense.

Final Verdict: This warm, sensuous blend has become our favourite already. We would prefer using this range more during the fall - winter / festive season, thanks to its warm notes, especially liquorice. If you loved the strong and spicy notes of the Red Musk range, then you might be a bit disappointed with the more warm and sweet notes of this fragrance. But still, I would recommend that you visit the store and give a product from this range, especially the EDP or Perfume Oil, a shot. It's a sophisticated fragrance that is a perfect mix of sweet and sexy and will definitely not disappoint you. The delightful notes will ensure that you fall in love with this fragrance, slowly and steadily.

Have you tried the all new Black Musk range by The Body Shop? If yes, tell us about your experience on Twitter | Instagram or Facebook.

Colorblocking | Red Carpet Inspiration

With the cold breeze bidding adieu, spring is almost here to say hello and so are colourful hues. It's time of the year when we welcome summer / resort trends and see them all around us. Some  fashionistas have been experimenting with these trends already, one of our current favourites being Colorblocking, a trend that burst on the fashion scene in the 80s - 90s and keeps getting bigger year after year. We saw it at Bottega Veneta, Akris among others last year and the trend is fast becoming a favourite on the red carpet too. Celebrities took to colorblocking and gave their outfits a spin of their own, but it looks like the orange and pink combination was a clear favourite. We spotted some popular Indian and International celebrities sporting this trend and we must say, it's turning out to be one colourful affair!

Who? - Taylor Swift
Where? - Grammy Awards (2016)
Taylor Swift shone like a bright star in this gorgeous Versace outfit, as she walked home with three Grammy awards this year. The custom coral and fuchsia two piece outfit, bold lips and that hot new hairdo was the perfect combination for a superstar. Slay it, girl!

Who? - Katrina Kaif
Where? - Fitoor Promotions (2016)
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was among the first few to sport the color blocking trend in 2016. Dressed in a Jill Jill Stuart two tone gown, Katrina kept it simple with just bright pink lips and a pair of gold hoop earrings by Isharya. Perfect to brighten up any dull day, no?

Who? - Rihanna
Where? - Night out in New York (2011)
Trust Rihanna to make us fall in love with everything that she picks! Although she wore this outfit in 2011 (Yes! Almost five years ago), it is still one of our favourites. The magenta and orange combination here is perfect for both Fall and Spring. Perfect outfit to channel your inner rockstar, no?

Instagram

Who? Emma Stone
Where? - Met Gala (2014)
Ah! The queen of colour blocking. Is there anyone who can nail this trend better than her? Remember her Giambattista Valli peplum ensemble? We couldn't take our eyes off that gorgeous look. Though she has impressed us with her colourful choices at several red carpet events, one of our favourites has to be this pink on pink two piece Thakoon outfit, that she chose for the Met Gala in 2014.

Who? - Richa Chaddha
Where? - Dior dinner (2015)
Another Indian actress, this time Richa Chaddha chose this gorgeous Andrew Gn outfit for a Dior dinner last year. The bright, bold colours compliment her gorgeous skin tone perfectly. Oh, and we love how she has kept it minimal with both less make up and accessories.

Who? - Leslie Mann
Where? - The Other Woman premiere (2014)
Now, this lady is some serious inspiration! Flaunting that perfect figure and looking absolutely stunning in this orchid silk linen gazar bandeau and poppy silk gazar draped ball skirt by Monique Lhuillier is none other than Leslie Mann. What's amazing is that instead of going minimal, she chose to add a touch of drama by colour blocking her nails and lips as well. Also, don't miss those gorgeous Oscar Tiye Cleopatra sandals.

Well, we can't wait to sport the colour blocking trend this season! We are eyeing our favourite outfits and accessories already. Do you have a favourite colour blocking look? Do let us know.

Birthday Special | 35 reasons why we love Shahid Kapoor

$

For Shahid Kapoor fans (or should we say, Shanatics), February 25 is a special. After all, their favourite star turns a year older today. Here's wishing this amazingly talented actor and a fabulous human being - Shahid Kapoor, a very happy birthday. Well, it is hard to believe that Shahid Kapoor turns 35 today. I mean c'mon, thirty-five? Are you kidding me? Either we are stuck in 2005 or Shahid can seriously give any 24-year-old a run for his money. The actor with his new soldier-inspired look for Rangoon, just keeps looking better with each passing day (And no, by that, we don't mean he didn't look good yesterday. We love him and will always swear by his suave personality). We got to see very little of him in 2015, with just Shaandaar (and special moments from his wedding) hitting the headlines. As well wishers, we truly hope that 2016 turns out to be yet another milestone year in Shahid's career! And now, on to the post.

Honestly, we don't really need a reason to love him. I mean, just look him. He is such a charmer! But since the actor turns 35 today, we decided to give you 35 reasons to love Sasha aka the birthday boy - Shahid Kapoor.

1. The 'Impossible is Nothing' approach
Shahid is one of the very few actors who has made his way up there on his own merit. We all know that he believed in the 'Impossible is Nothing' mantra and needless to say, has come a long way with several awards in his kitty today.

2. Those dance moves!
Oh yeah! He's got the moves like... err Shahid. The actor is blessed with two fabulous feet that can dance and how. He has got the perfect blend of foot work and expressions, which is very rare. Easily one of the best dancers in Bollywood today.

3. Oh-so-humble!
People who have interacted with Shahid will tell you how humble the actor is! He prefers being modest and allows his work to do all the talking.

4. So unique!
Be it the way he winks or the manner in which he folds his fingers while walking / posing. Or even the way he brings his index finger close to his lips while thinking (or better - the 'shut up' pose). We have some very cute observations of Shahid that we just can't get enough of!

5. Music is Everything
The actor can't live without a dose of music in his everyday life. So much that a few years back, he had even set up a music mixer at his place and would often post Instagram videos of himself, experimenting with sounds. He even shared playlists and recommendations from Sound Cloud on Twitter.

6. Infectious Energy
Those around him will tell you that Shahid's energy and enthusiasm can be quite infectious. Even his interviews are full of fun. Even on the dance floor, there is no stopping him, as the actor is known to get 'high' on dancing and non-stop music.

7. Vegetarian by choice
We respect anything and everything that an individual does as a personal choice. For Shahid Kapoor, turning vegetarian was nothing to do with religion or being forced. It was a personal choice and must say, PETA was right in calling him one of the hottest vegetarians alive!

8. My father, my idol
Shahid has always been close to his family and it is always a delight to watch him talk about his father, Pankaj Kapur. The actor looks up to his father as an idol and respects his work. So much, that while working together in the film Shaandaar, Shahid unknowingly ended up giving some really OTT (over the top) shots on the first day, just because his father was around. It took some time for him to get comfortable.

9. Those eyes!
Ever tried looking in to those dreamy eyes, only to get lost for hours? Well, we haven't either. But those who have, are proof that those magical eyes are everything.

10. Sibling wala love
Just like any other elder brother, Shahid is extremely protective about his siblings. He is often seen praising Ishaan and Sanah on Twitter for their respective talents. Sweet, no?

11. Experiment, always!
Shahid has never shied away from experimenting with his films or characters. If he is Haider Meer, he gets ready to turn into Jagjinder Joginder the very next day. The actor believes that there is no fun in doing anything that has already been done.

12. The Caring husband
Seen those images of Shahid posing with his wife, just after the wedding ceremony? Or even those where the paparazzi snapped the duo outside their house? What's common between the two? The fact that Shahid never lets go off his wife's hand and is extremely caring. Remember this quote? "When I fall head over heels in love with a girl, I will tie her to my side and never let her go." Sigh!

13. Mumma's beloved son
Shahid is also known to be very close to his mom. The actor, who spent his early years in Delhi and later shifted to Mumbai, gets his dancing genes from Mom Neelima Azim (who is a renowned trained classical dancer).

14. Not the one to walk on tested waters
Shahid likes being in an ambiguous space, where he can figure out how he can fit into a role and give his best. He is one of the very few actors who finds ambiguity (while making a film) very exciting. Well, no wonder he always manages to impress us with his new avatars.

15. That beard!

Well, we are not big fans of the big beard look. But one look at Shahid in a beard and we had to change our opinion. No one makes a beard look that good!

16. Same look? Nah!

Experiments are not just restricted to roles. We have seen Shahid change multiple looks in the past couple of years. From the clean shaven chocolate boy to going bald, sporting a crew cut and even a man bun, the actor has done it all. Tough to choose a favourite, though.

17. Keeping it casual
The actor loves to keep it simple and casual. He is one of the few actors who can make sports luxe look great even on the red carpet. The easy going, casual vibe of his outfits have now become a signature style. While off duty, he loves his gym tracks and ganjis.

18. Haider
Doing a film like Haider, stepping into the shoes of Haider Meer, giving the film your all and believing Vishal Bharadwaj's vision. If there is anyone who could do this and come out with flying colours, it was Shahid Kapoor! We can never stop praising his work in this film.

19. Never give up!
There have been instances where the actor got hurt or has shot under extreme conditions, just to ensure that he leaves no stone unturned to make his shot / dance track look good. For instance, the actor ended up with multiple bruises while rehearsing for Gandi Baat, but he didn't allow any hurdle to stop him working dancing like a dream.

20. Mass bhi, Class bhi
Very few actors can get that transition right, but Shahid does it with ease. If he can win hearts as the charming Aditya Kashyap or be the loveable Prem, he can also do the Gandi Baat in R... Rajkumarand make you go Dhating Naach as the fake cop Vishwas Rao in Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.

21. Friends forever
The actor is known to be a private person and loves hanging around with his pals. Apart from a few of his school and college friends, he is also known to be good friends with designer Kunal Rawal and producer Madhu Mantena. It was cute to see him perform at Mantena's sangeet and being a constant support during the wedding festivities last year.

22. The Indian Mr Darcy
With his flawless portrayal of Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met, Shahid Kapoor made us believe that Mr Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) exists. The actor gave us an Indianised version of the popular character in the form of Aditya (Jab We Met). Less talk, coz Aditya's eyes did all the talking.

23. Oh! He can cook
The actor has confessed that he loves simple, home cooked meals. He loves his share of ghar ka khana, especially Rajma Chawal. But what's interesting is the fact that Shahid can cook and loves making paranthas - be it aloo or cheese. Also, he isn't too fussy about his food. He is as comfortable eating at a roadside stall as he is in a fancy restaurant.

24. Biker boy
Shahid is known to have a fleet of luxury cars, including a customised Jaguar. But, he also loves his Harley Davidson Fat Boy. The actor is a fan of long drives and likes to zoom around on his bike or car during free time.

25. Stylish foot forward
While Shahid continues to confess that he is still trying to figure out his personal style, his sartorial choices have always made heads turn. The actor loves his tuxedos and is often seen making a dapper appearance at award shows and events. In fact, he has been awarded with several Style Icon awards as well. Our favourite look on him? The sleek black tuxedo.

26. Not without my workout
Shahid can give even the laziest man on planet earth some serious inspiration to get up and workout! If that lean, toned body wasn't enough, the actor's trainer - Abbas, often posts videos and images of the actor pumping some serious iron and focusing on his workout. If you ever need a fitness idol, Shahid is the one for you.

27. Being real!

Love drive and rajma chawal loving, music and cinema enthusiast. Someone who can never stop gushing over Scarlett Johansson's smile. The kind of guy who loves exploring new sounds, artists on Sound Cloud and swears by the beaches of Goa. He is so much like us!!

28. Sense of humour
Anyone who has interacted with Shahid will tell you how he has the ability to make you laugh, while maintaining a straight face. Shahid has a great sense of humour. His one-liners are hard to miss even during an interview. And we really think he is a great mimic (haven't we seen glimpses of his talent at a few award functions already?)

29. Philosophy
While we love his sense of humour, we are also fans of his philosophical thoughts. Although the actor denies being philosophical or giving out motivational gyaan, his thoughts and quotes have often inspired folks on social media (and even us, during interviews). In fact, there is also a Twitter fan account dedicated to his quotes.

30. Focus and Dedication
Shahid likes being focused. His dedication towards his work and himself (be it while working in a film or working out at a gym) is awe inspiring. He is also known to be a perfectionist and believes in giving his best.

31. Normal life
Despite all the glamour and spotlight that his occupation brings along, Shahid likes leading a normal life. After a long day at work, he loves enjoying his cuppa with loved ones, chit - chatting and watching the world pass by. Some of his Instagram videos, where he is often seen enjoying sunsets while sitting at the deck of his suburban residence, are also proof. Don't we all love doing that too?

32. Love for Maamu
Everybody knows that Shahid shares an extremely special bond with Maamu, his man friday who has been with the actor since the former's kiddie days. He is also known as Shahid's one man army and the actor can't do without him. Shahid's love for his 'maamu' is absolutely adorable!

33. Kaminey
We loved him in Kaminey! It takes some real guts to take up a film, which takes you out of a comfort zone and pushes you to do something completely different, at a time when you have given a blockbuster hit like Vivah - a family drama. But, Shahid accepted this challenge like a pro and the result? An award winning performance. Oh, and no one can run the way he did. Period.

34. FANtastic
Shahid has always been vocal about his love for all the fans, who keep supporting him no matter what. His Shanatic fandom is huge and has spread across the globe, right from Russia to Germany, Australia to Canada. There are several fan accounts dedicated to the actor and he acknowledges their love and faith in his work by checking their creations, special tweets and even replying to some of the fans.

35. That dimpled smile is everything!
Aap samajh gaye ya main aur boolun?

Have a wonderful birthday, Shahid! We love you.
